Without a registered name and recognized address, a society cannot function as an official body under the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act, 1960.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>name of the society<\/strong> is not just a label. Once registered, the name becomes permanent, and societies are not allowed to change it without the prior approval of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies.
